Raleigh Municipal Parking Garage

As part of Raleigh’s "LED City" initiative, Lighting Science Group’s Low Bay luminaires were installed in the Raleigh Municipal Parking Garage in December 2006. This was the first installation in the program which creates a "living laboratory" to evaluate the use of LED lighting. The project shows that LED lighting delivers economic, environmental and functional benefits to the residents of Raleigh.

The city reduced its energy consumption by 40% and improved the lighting of its municipal city parking facility. The Low Bay’s white light improved public opinion about the garage, with 86% of the surveyed residents giving positive feedback that the LED lighting was excellent. This isa 258% increase from pre-installation respondents. The number of respondents who perceived the garage as “very safe” also increased by 76%.
