Chanel
Ginza, Tokyo
Lighting Designer: Peter Marino - NYC
This spectacular 10-story video wall on the Chanel building in Tokyo's Ginza district made history as the first integration of LED lighting with a skyscraper's curtain wall. The dynamic animated images and extraordinary transparency of the display combine to create an unforgettable visual landscape ... while allowing the building's occupants a clear view of the city outside.
This custom LED system has also been installed on three other Chanel buildings.
Hong Kong
Chanel's remarkable Prince Building in Hong Kong is the first building to feature a video wall using Lighting Science's Nichia NSSW chip LEDs—225,000 of them, to be exact. The five-story LED curtain projects animated images at a frame speed three times faster than other LED video technologies.
Osaka
Chanel featured a large-scale Lighting Science LED lighting solution on the exterior of their building in Osaka for more than five years—then upgraded the video wall with our latest LED technology. The new LED system uses brighter Nichia Rigel LEDs—with additional LEDs per inch to increase image resolution. The result is a stunning animated backdrop for this busy Japanese streetscape.
Lighting Science also installed long-life, energy-efficient LED illumination lighting in the building’s interior stairwells and hallways for added security and trouble-free maintenance.
