Blending seamlessly into the luminaire, Lighting Science’s PixelView Control™ system achieves what other outdoor occupancy controls systems have not – a fully integrated individual luminaire control that provides unparalleled coverage and control capability that dramatically improves performance and safety making all other occupancy sensing technologies obsolete.

Typical exterior occupancy controls use Passive Infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion and their ability to recognize occupancy can be severely diminished in hot or cold environments. In high temperature environments a human body can blend in to the background while in cold temperatures, heavy clothing can provide a type of camouflage, limiting how much infrared is radiated from the body. Coupled with PIR’s common use of Fresnel type lenses that have the potential to create “dead zones” in coverage, the failure of the sensor to effectively recognize occupancy can create a potentially unsafe environment for occupants.

Forefront’s PixelView Control™system utilizes image sensing and video processing to accurately detect and characterize motion. Unlike PIR technology, PixelView Control™is not affected by ambient conditions and detects movement of any object within its field of view accurately trigger the luminaire to smoothly move into full brightness.
