Overview
Lighting Science Group in cooperation with the Norwegian Public Road Administration’s department of Buskerud, was invited to participate in a city study related to roadway lighting.
The field study focused on illuminance and luminance; the laboratory study investigated electrical and illluminance-based parameters.
Three suppliers were chosen, including Lighting Science Group. LSG installed Prolific Double Roadway 200W III Streetside Optimized luminaires. The results of the study noted that LSG’s Double Roadway delivered the highest lumen per watt ratio in comparison with the other two manufacturers.
The benefits of the Double Roadway fixtures :
- Dark Sky requirements met with full cutoff optics and no tertiary optical losses
- Building materials decreased by use of custom arrayed optics which reduce the use of plastics in the luminaire housing
- Holistic thermal design improves efficiency and system life contributing to overall energy savings
