With a brand that is admired and respected for grace and sophistication, Chanel has once again dominated the world’s attention by establishing a store in a place recognized as one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world: the Ginza district in Tokyo, Japan.
Known as the Chanel Tower, it is the first true architectural integration of LED technology into a curtain wall environment. It was one of the first innovative utilization of media facades as a branding method. The architect’s vision required the LED system to be structurally integrated into the building for maximum aesthetic effect. Lighting Science collaborated closely with the architects at Peter Marino Architect throughout the engineering and project design process to ensure the design intent was met.

Location: Tokyo, Japn
Client: Chanel
Date Completed: December 4, 2004

Imagine the first time a light bulb ever went on: How it pierced the dark where before there had only been a flame. Over a hundred years later, the industry is still in the dark, but about to receive a wake up call. And we say not a moment too soon.
Rather than a company that has inventors, we are a group of inventor with a company. We also have a mission: nothing less than to change the World. We want quality of light to stop coming with compromise, and we're making it so.
In short, our light is brilliant even when it isn't on. So to our employees, friends and customers we say: get ready to see more than ever before.
